I held his spirit in a jar
It's a bright golden yellow orb
A piece of himself
where the memories of who we are
and what we are
and how we feel each other
is kept inside of me
"Don't let go of me." He said.
Already I can feel his fear and helplessness.
He doesn't want me to let him go.
"I won't." I promised, trying to reassure him.
"But my love, what I'm supposed
to do with it?"
"Keep it. Until the time is right for you
to give it back to me."
"But why do you trust me?"
"I know you. You tend to hold on things
so tenaciously, you don't give up on people easily."
"All right, but don't you feel tired?"
"I always feel tired. I always feel incomplete. The only person who
can complete me is you...so it's up to you know. Keep that
piece so that when I return back to you,
I can find my way back to you."
I sighed. "You will feel lost."
"I know. You will find me when I need you the most.
And when the time is right,
you'll know when to wake me up."
"You bet a lot on me. Isn't that risky?"
He mentally sighing too. I could feel it.
His eyes looks sad and he pressed his face
on my shoulder, wanting to lean on me.
He feels so tired.
"That's why I'm not the hero. You are. And this is our story about love, loss,
and the power of two souls finding the
courage to overcome anything.
You hold my heart because when I find you,
you'll be my angel, angel of hope."
I hold a piece of his spirit in a jar
and put it in the pocket near to my breast.
"All right..." I whispered on his soft hair. "And until you return."
I gave him a kiss.
"I love you."
"And..."
"And...?"
"Would you promise that you'll wait for me?"
I gave him a smile, albeit a sad one, but one
full of patience and understanding.
"Do what you must, this is a test of trust.
I will wait for you, my beloved, and do remember
our sacred place, our resting place where we bare
our souls and our love is sacred."
I hugged him again. "Come back soon, but don't
make me wait too long or I'll be cross with you."
"Thank you." He finally smiled. "I shall return to
be by your side once more. I promise you."
Silly man. And all the mean things I said about him,
words and cruelty he never meant to hear
and never meant to endure
because the harshness is not real will never
fell upon his soul.
For he is a good soul, a gentle soul,
a charming pet,
and a good husband for me to keep.
It's good to feel connected to one another
and as long we'll be together for the journey
I think people will be happy for us.
As long we're together, we're together
I won't complain.
